Crosby Beach!

I had a really lovely start to the easter holidays today as I met up with a friend from college and spent the day relaxing by the waterfront. The weather was absolutely gorgeous!

15 Minute Challenge 3

I didn't manage to do very many of these this week due to uni commitments (you'll see why at the end! Sneak Preview!) but here are week three's 15 Minute Challenges.... Also might have gone on a procrastination induced baking spree; brownies and my very first homemade banana cake!

Studio Update!

I realise I haven't posted studio work updates perhaps as regularly as I ought to but uni schedules have been all over the place at the moment and life seems to have invaded along the way! I thought I would show you all my current studio at the moment and the various bits and bobs going on...I'm currently carrying out a placement module producing work based on Ribble Steam Railway in Preston. Over the course of the project I have taken a substantial amount of primary photos from which I have used as reference and as part of my development too, through various digital manipulation processes. Below are some of the things I have been working on during the project...

Fineliner Watercolour:

Darkroom Induction: Test Shots above right

Left handed Drawings (exercise to remove control as my right hand is my strongest)

Rubbings at Ribble Steam Railway Museum:

Currently working on a series of simple line drawings:

Vintage effects on Photos taken today:

Diesel Weekend at Ribble

Yesterday I spent the day at the Diesel weekend at Ribble Steam Railway which was a great novelty for me as I had never seen them run before! Despite the grey skies I had a really great day watching the trains and chatting to the archivist and writer of Ribble Pilot about some of my art work. I was surprised to see how brightly the trains were painted and how noisy they were too! We had to pause several times to let them move out of the station before continuing the conversation haha.

Spring at Ribble!

I was really lucky to have the opportunity to ride in the cabin of the diesel train below, alongside some of the crew!

The Railbus below was also another novelty for me as I was unaware of their existence before visiting Ribble! It was a pretty exciting day overall!
