15 Minute Drawing Challenge

At the start of this week, a friend and I decided to start a new daily drawing challenge; as we're both currently studying at uni and have a lot to keep track of, we decided to put a time cap on it and, using a randomly generated word as inspiration, create a drawing at least once each day; as a result we came up with the 15 minute challenge which seemed like a manageable time limit. Having kept at it for just under a week now, I've found it a lot more challenging than I originally thought it'd be, but I'm thoroughly enjoying the challenge and constantly learning new things. Once the time was up we'd swap images and see each other's interpretation of the word was which was interesting as my friend studies genetics and took a very literal meaning of the word whilst I tried hard to challenge myself to loosely interpret it. Hopefully you'll be seeing a lot more of these in the future!

Mothers Day '14!

Photo Collage created using Pixlr Express

Happy Mothers Day 2014! I have a lot of treasured memories of my mom and her fondness for fairies and several lovely photos on multiple occasions taken by the Lavender Farm in Shoreham, Kent. So this year, unable to make it back home, I decided to merge the two to create my own lavender fairy illustration. Hope you like the results! I'm looking forward to another trip down to the farm this summer! Look out for photos...

Birmingham Trip!

Today the uni took us on a trip to Birmingham, the midlands which was pretty exciting. Unfortunately we were stuck in traffic for the majority of the day and only got to explore two art galleries; an hour to each one. I really enjoyed the eccentricity of the first one, I feel they've managed to merge old and new together in an original and interesting way. The second one we visited I wasn't a massive fan of as it felt more like a university than art gallery but the cherry blossom and ducks were nice...

I really like the way this artist had presented her studio, it felt so personal and quirky!

Birthday Elephant!

It was my dad's birthday today and his favourite animal is an elephant so being an art student, I decided to make him a birthday card; these are some of the progress and the final illustration.
