I was lucky enough to be able to meet up with Sam in London today as his work transferred him here for a week! I was only able to see him once he'd finished in work for the day so I went and found a really pretty park by the River Thames to go chill and read for a bit. It was really exciting then as I was going to meet Sam who was in the outskirts of London so I got the excitement of travelling on a completely new train system! There was a really nice mosaic at the station. It was such a muggy and humid day so we mooched around London for some food and chilled in the park. I went to St James for the first time! It was so lovely there, I definitely didn't expect pelicans haha. Since we were so close we ended up going to Buckingham Palace anyway; the queues to see the Royal Baby announcement were crazy! We got lost on the underground a lot on the way back before stopping off at the Tower of London on the way back. It was such a lovely afternoon together, especially as it was a surprise opportunity.

Pirate day!
Hastings Pirate day '13 |
Some of the assorted pirates we found along our travels above! The Jack Sparrow to the left was so cuute, he was quite happily doing a little jig during the parade haha! The guy in the middle had a scary costume, he shouted out to us in the street but he had such a friendly smile we couldn't help but laugh~ I was surprised to find an assassin amongst the crowds too, but very excited as Sam loves the games! I later realised it was because the latest one, 'Black Flag' is to be set in a pirate theme!
This was such a lovely little shop! It looked like a museum it was laid out so beautifully. |
Dad found his parrot haha! Apparently it flew into a shop and the owner didn't like birds so dad rescued it. |
The reason pirate day is so worth it;) |
The ventricular railway! We finally braved one of these again after so many years! It was such a surreal experience being held up by only three cables.. needless to say, shenay provided much entertainment for us and the other passengers as she freaked out... The view was absolutely worth it though! It was very hazy and beautiful as the sea and horizon merged together seamlessly. It turns out theres at least a hundred acres of country park on top of the cliff which we weren't aware of so hopefully we'll come back to explore them later!

Steampunk Gun!
Spent the other day in town with Shenay which was fun as we meandered around the charity stores for a possible pirate shirt for Sunday. It was very hot so we ended up buying a McFlurry and chilling in the fields for a bit. I then had to head to my mom's school for the evening as I had roped myself into helping checking tickets from parents for their school production. It ended up being a lot of fun as there were so many lovely chatty parents and I was able to stay to watch the production; an adaptation of Alice in Wonderland. It was very impressive how well the kids sang some of the songs, I'm not sure I'd have managed to!
I finally got around to finishing off my steampunk'd water gun too which I started last summer! I thought it'd be nice to get it finished in time for pirate day so I can go as a steampunk pirate. Below is a sort of step by step, I hope you like the end result! I'm in love with the shiny paint haha.

Lullingstone Country Park
Hello little caterpillar! |
I had such a lovely summers day out with the family today! It was an early start this morning as we went to a local car boot sale first thing; I had a lot of fun mooching around the stalls, it's been so long since I've been to one! I was lucky enough to find a really cute dress with a gorgeous fox print and peter pan collar. Later, we went down to a favourite walking spot of ours. It's conveniently next to the lavender fields, so we made a slight detour to the local farm shop and another photo opportunity in the fields! I love walking around this area, it's right by the river which is lovely and shaded by trees. It was nice as we discovered some new routes through the fields today, stumbling upon an absolutely gorgeous poppy field! It was such a beautiful colourful day:)
We stopped for lunch by the Roman Villa where we had a lovely view at the top of the hill. We had a delicious summer picnic lunch accompanied by gorgeous fresh strawberries and raspberries from the farm shop. Tasty!
