Pirate day 2013 has finally arrived! After stumbling upon it last year Shenay and I quickly determined it would become an annual family tradition; having planned our outfits at least a week in advance we had such a fun day! There was so much to do and it was exciting to see all the different interpretations of pirate costumes.. Shenay and I even got asked permission for someone to take a photo and dad got asked by a little boy if he could shake the hand of a 'real pirate'! We spent the day casually mooching through all the shops and along the beachfront to watch the skydive and cannons being fired. There was such an exciting and energetic atmosphere.

Some of the assorted pirates we found along our travels above! The Jack Sparrow to the left was so cuute, he was quite happily doing a little jig during the parade haha! The guy in the middle had a scary costume, he shouted out to us in the street but he had such a friendly smile we couldn't help but laugh~ I was surprised to find an assassin amongst the crowds too, but very excited as Sam loves the games! I later realised it was because the latest one, 'Black Flag' is to be set in a pirate theme!

This was such a lovely little shop! It looked like a museum it was laid out so beautifully. |

Dad found his parrot haha! Apparently it flew into a shop and the owner didn't like birds so dad rescued it. |

The reason pirate day is so worth it;) |
Whilst wandering through the streets we stumbled upon the pirate parade; it was so exciting! There were so many pirates playing drums followed by anyone who wished to join the parade. I loved the masquerade pirate costume; on taking a photo though he purposefully jumped right into my face "arghhhing" like a real pirate so much that I jumped right out of my skin! Dad's got a great shot of him laughing afterwards.
The ventricular railway! We finally braved one of these again after so many years! It was such a surreal experience being held up by only three cables.. needless to say, shenay provided much entertainment for us and the other passengers as she freaked out... The view was absolutely worth it though! It was very hazy and beautiful as the sea and horizon merged together seamlessly. It turns out theres at least a hundred acres of country park on top of the cliff which we weren't aware of so hopefully we'll come back to explore them later!
