For a while now I've been wanting to attempt my own version of Sugar Skull Makeup inspired by the Mexican festival 'Los Dia de los Muertos' or Day of the Dead. Usually you'd wait till a day like Halloween when there's an excuse to dress up, but my sister and I decided to try it out today for the fun of it~ these are our results! I painted my face and she did hers. It took such a long time to finalize the details! I think we must have spent a good two or three hours on them building up the layers! It was so much fun though coming up with our own colour schemes and designs, I tried to go for a more simplistic approach with the lace masked effect on my face and thought of making a peter pan collar out of it on my collarbone; I think it makes it more unusual and feminine overall. I really like how different Shenay's and I's turned out without realising it, she went for a much more realistic approach choosing to outline the jaw and bone structure in a smudged black. It was so much fun walking outside! Although we kept worrying we'd scare an elderly person or give small children nightmares; we received a lot of compliments on our travels though!
Originally we planned to take some photos in a woodland area, but we got lost trying to find said woodland area and ended up in a public walk which we hadn't found before. As it was really hot we decided to continue on into the shaded area under the tree cover. It was so lovely there though so I'm really glad we got lost!
I really like this photo! It reminds me of an editorial/high fashion type; similar to those in ANTM |
We have no idea where we are... it's very pretty though! |
Such a cute bench! |
In the end, we actually found the original woodland area we were aiming for which was lovely! The sunlight created such a lovely dappled effect! :)
