Day 10- Fathers Day and the Lake

Any man can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a dad! Happy Fathers day dad
Fathers day today! Sadly, I'm in a completely different country from my dad at the moment, so I decided to draw him something instead of organising a gift~ This is the result! Today was a very chillaxed day, we spent most of it besides the pool, before mooching out to a nearby lake for the afternoon in the hopes of finding a windsurfing instructor~ there weren't any there but the lake was very pretty, so I sat sketching on the grass whilst sam and his brother swam out for a bit~ I want to work more on my portraiture so I started sketching out a rough self portrait, basing it off a photo I'd edited down to the basic facial features for a more minimal approach to sketching. It's a work in progress at the moment though, although I'm enjoying the process! The lake was very pretty, especially as it was such lovely weather! Sam and I climbed to the top of the viewpoint where we watched the lone windsurfers and a plane which didn't seem too sure of what it was doing!

So, we found a grasshopper on our wall when we got back! It was mahoosive! Luckily it stayed there long enough for us to get our cameras~ although I was thinking 'what if it jumps?' throughout haha. The intricacy and detail that makes it up really are amazing! You could almost feel the tension as it prepared to jump!

Hello!
This time on our evening walk we decided to walk down to the crossroads by the rail tracks~ the silhouettes were really striking against the sky I thought! I liked the cockatoo decor on our neighbor's fence as opposed to the usual lion or other heroic beast~
